Amec sells wind unit to Swedes
THE wind energy arm of engineering giant Amec has been bought by Swedish energy firm Vattenfall for £126.6 million.
Vattenfall, the fifth-largest electricity generator in Europe and 100 per cent owned by he Swedish government, said the acquisition would allow it to expand its presence in the UK market, where it already owns and operates the Kentish Flats offshore wind farm. Samir Brikho, chief executive of Amec, said: "This is an excellent deal for both Amec and Vattenfall."
