Alworths all set to open up two stores

ALWORTHS, the retailer founded by a former senior Woolworths figure, yesterday unveiled plans to open its first two stores in Scotland.

The first shop will open in Cupar on 16 June, followed by Forfar on 18 June, with plans to open a further eight outlets north of the Border.

The company – which was founded by Andy Latham, ex-head of store and concessions development at Woolworths – already has seven stores in England. Alworths will create 20 jobs in the two towns. Both stores are ex-Woolies stores and many of the staff will be former Woolworths' employees.
