Aamot joins Johnston Press board
JOHNSTON Press, publisher of The Scotsman, has appointed Kjell Aamot as a non-executive director from 1 August.
He was chief executive of Schibsted ASA, the Norwegian publisher, from 1989 to 2009, transforming it from a family-owned business to an international multi-media company and continues to serve as a non-executive member of the board of 20Minutes, a publisher of free papers in France, in which Schibsted has a 50 per cent interest. Aamot is also a non-executive member of the board of PubliGroupe, a Swiss-based listed marketing and sales organisation, and an adviser to FSN Capital, an Oslo-based private equity firm.
Ian Russell, chairman of Johnston Press, said: "Kjell will be a tremendous asset and I am delighted to welcome him. He brings an excellent track record in managing change in the media sector which will be of immense value to us."
