800 BA staff work for free

ONLY 800 British Airways staff have agreed to the company's request to work for free.

The firm was accused of "bullying" and being out of touch with staff after asking staff to take unpaid leave or work some hours for nothing. Volunteers for paid unpaid work are among 6,940 staff who have agreed to cost-cutting schemes.

The airline said this will save them as much as 10 million.

BA originally asked its 40,000 staff to work for nothing for between a week and a month to attempt to save the company.
