Bikini styles for 2012

Advertorial Feature

Whether you’re an LTS (that’s Long Tall Sally, don’t you know), a classic pear or an apple, there is a bikini out there that is just right for your shape. The key to looking good in a bikini is knowing what styles suit you best and which ones should be avoided at all costs!

The good news is that styles for summer 2012 cover literally all bases so with a bit of searching you’re bound to find something that will suit you perfectly.
One of the most popular styles for the summer is the bandeau bikini which is ideal for anyone who doesn’t like tell-tale tan lines on their shoulders. The strapless bandeau is great for anyone with a smaller bust who doesn’t need much support, but not ideal if you have more to love in the bosom department! You’ll end up pulling the bikini top up all day, which is not the way to spend a relaxing holiday.
Bigger busted ladies should opt for an underwired bikini, which will give just as much support as your bra and balance out your shape. This season underwired bikinis are available in a range of stunning designs and colours including this year’s must haves - tropical flowers and butterfly prints.
Triangle styles are also very popular again for 2012 and are ideal if you have a small to medium sized bust but don’t want a bandeau. Triangle tops work well with pretty much any style brief so if you think this will suit you then make sure you choose briefs that will enhance the shape of your lower half. If you have slim thighs then high leg briefs look great and will make your legs look long and lean. If you have more muscular thighs or if you’re not quite happy with the shape of them then opt for a slightly lower cut brief, which will help give you a more balanced silhouette.
Tummies can be a problem area for lots of women, particularly after babies, which is why the tankini was invented! This vest style top gives you the best of both worlds, covering up your tummy but giving you the flexibility of a two-piece. This year tankinis are all about bright bold patterns and colours, so if this is the style you’re going to go for, have fun and choose a print that will make you stand out for all the right reasons.
