Barack Obama has for the first time overtaken Hillary Clinton in the number of superdelegates backing him for the Democratic nomination for the White House.
Obama received the support of superdelegates from Utah, Ohio and the Virgin Islands, enabling him to surpass Clinton's total. He had picked up nine superdelegate endorsements on Friday.

Obama has endorsements from 275, according to the latest tal
ly. Clinton has 271.5.

The milestone is important because Clinton would need to win over the superdelegates by a wide margin in order to claim the nomination. They are a group that Clinton dominated before the Iowa primary in early January, when she was able to cash in on the popularity of the Clinton brand among the party faithful. Those party insiders, however, have been steadily streaming to Obama since he started posting wins in early voting states. Once it became clear that he was pulling ahead of Clinton in the race to be the nominee, the Clinton camp tried to win over superdelegates.

"It is perceived that he is the leader," said Don Fowler, a superdelegate from South Carolina who supports Clinton. "The trickle is going to become an avalanche."

Superdelegates are party and elected officials who will attend the Democratic national convention this August in Denver.

Wally,

The only possible way that Obama can lose the nomination now is if it is stolen from him. and given that the name clinton is still around, it is possible that this could happen. Hilary Clinton's campaign is pressing the issue with party officials that Florida & Michigan votes will be counted despite that those states disqualified themselves and there were not fair primaries held in that state. elder statesman of the Democrat party Jimmy Carter is saying that Obama has won, Clinton should surrender, and that Florida & Michigan should not be counted. Yet Hilary is still pressing the issue with party leaders that Florida & michigan should be counted.

It will be Obama vs. McCain in November unless theft occurs. and McCain is very unpopular as he is a republican. Republicans, polls show, are less popular than they have been at any time now since 1964. and that is a pitiful record for the Republicans.

The 2 conservatives who helped the republicans gain popularity during the 1970's were Paul Craig Robers and Richard Viguerie. Behind the scenes these were the 2 working tirelessly with direct mail and all kinds of campaigns to bring ronald reagan to power and bring the republicans up in the eyes of Americans.

Today Richard Viguerie and Paul Craig Roberts both condemn the Republican leadership of the likes of the Bush's. both supported Ron Paul. If the Republicans wanted to win this election, then they should've selected Ron Paul. They did not and so, they're going to lose. this is not my opinion, this is a fact.

Wally, well named! So bad he posted it twice. Hussein is a tainted character, unelectable as he is odious.
