Turning back centuries with Old Masters

WORKS by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael are among those going on show as part of a major exhibition of 16th and 17th Italian art, it has been announced.
The exhibition of paintings and drawings from the Royal Collection is coming to Scotland in two parts, the first of which opens to the public today in Edinburgh.

It celebrates the artistic legacy of the Stuart kings, Charles I and Charles II.

Part one of the exhibition – on display at the Queen's Gallery at the Palace of Holyroodhouse – focuses on the Italian Renaissance.

It will be followed by a companion exhibition on the Baroque style, which will go on show from November to March 2009.
