A POTTERY pig bought for just £2 around 40 years ago has sold for almost £7000 at auction in the Capital.
The 18-inch-long pig, decorated with painted golden apples and leaves, is thought to be a unique example of Wemyss Ware, made in Fife in the late 19th century.

The pig was bought four decades ago by a Scottish woman who spotted it while searching an auction room for a bed.

Specialists predicted it would fetch up to £5000 when it came up for sale at Bonhams' annual Scottish Sale yesterday, but after a bidding war it finally fetched £6960.
