AN IRISH aid worker was missing last night, feared kidnapped in the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan.
It is believed that the woman, who works for Goal, was taken hostage by armed men at a compound in the town of Kutum.

It is thought a Ugandan aid worker was with her.

Ireland's foreign affairs department confirmed last night that the aid worker was missing.

"In Khartoum we have an honorary consul, he is actively pursuing the case," a foreign affairs spokeswoman said.

Irish embassy staff in Cairo are also liaising with officials in Sudan.
