Riesling has amazing character that can be zippy and fresh in its youth but can age into concentrated, complex wines that offer great value for money.
Dr L Riesling 2007 – £6.49 - Tesco. Packed with apple fruits and low in alcohol, with a refreshingly crisp taste that cools the palate.

Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese Dr Hermann 2004 – £8.99 (Buy 2 Save £2 – £7.99) – Majestic. Sweet citrus fruit, delicate herbal notes and a cool minerality on the palate. On the nose it is starting to develop some petrol-like character. Complex and delicious.

Tesco Finest* Alsace Riesling 2007 – £5.99 – Tesco. With fresh, clean citrus aromas, the palate shows a dry purity of lime fruit and a subtle mineral edge.

Wine of the Week:

Tesco Finest* Tingleup Riesling – £7.19 – Tesco. Fresh citrus on the nose and lemon and lime on the palate, a slight floral character and a refreshing, cleansing finish.

Bargain of the Week:

Villa Maria Private Bin Riesling 2008 – £7.99 down to £6.39 – Majestic. Aromas of lime, apple and passion fruit, this is a fresh, zesty wine from New Zealand's Marlborough.
