THE head of a leading environmental campaign group has accused the Scottish Government of ignoring 21,000 people who responded to the consultation into its climate change bill.
Almost all the 21,046 people who offered their views in the consultation into the Scottish Climate Change Bill called for emissions from international aviation to be included in the legislation.

It was one measure that environment groups argue mus
t be taken to make sure the new laws, which will set out the Scottish Government's targets for action to tackle climate change, are rigorous.

The director of WWF Scotland is furious because, he claims, all responses sent to the government as part of campaigns by environment groups have been lumped together in the analysis of the consultation.

This means almost 21,000 responses generated by eight campaign groups are being counted as just eight responses.

As a result, the government is claiming just a third of respondents called for aviation emissions to be included.

Instead, Dr Richard Dixon, the director of WWF Scotland, insists that figure should be closer to 99 per cent.

He said it was a "real insult to democracy".

"They are basically ignoring 21,000 people who made the effort to put in a response," he said, adding: "This is a very worrying sign that the government is backing away from the world-beating climate bill that they have promised.

"A climate bill that ignores international aviation is like a diet that still lets you eat chocolate – it won't work."

He argues that, just because many of the responses were solicited by campaign groups and sent on campaign cards, they should still be included as individual representations.

He compared it with the consultation the Scottish Government carried out into the smoking ban legislation, when they advertised for people to send in text message responses.

"When the government themselves solicited tens of thousands of responses on the smoking ban, they were delighted to count them all.

"However, with more than 20,000 people telling the government to do the right thing by including flying in the climate bill, it is hugely disappointing that they have gone out of their way to sideline these responses."

A spokesman for the Scottish Government said: "Unlike previous consultations, the vast majority of campaign responses were based on a core script which individuals were encouraged to adapt. The analysis of these responses took account of both the core script statement, plus amendments and additions by individuals. Every single response was read and counted."

He said international aviation emissions are not included in the Scottish government's target, because of complications from allocating emissions from passengers who take more than one flight to reach their final destination.

Instead, he said the Scottish Government supports an international solution, and said if Scotland takes action alone it could simply shift emissions elsewhere, rather than delivering reductions.

So the eco-bams are riled - it must be the result of a sensible policy being promoted. Had successive governments not placated these unelected morons, we might have had a sensible energy policy in place by now and certainly household bills wouldn't be so high. But that's nothing compared to the damage they've caused worldwide with their anti-human attitudes and Gaia worship.

Responses no doubt came in on pre-printed postcards (by WWF and the other 7 eco-bam organisations) or were pre-dictated to the brainwashed to get the expected response.

Given a choice between some esoteric mince about CO2 emissions and let's say staying warm this winter or being able to drive to to work I wonder of Dr Dixon can guess which one appeals? Write in on a postcard to WWF...

Anyway does he not realise that an Climate bill is a tax-raising opportunity and absolutely SFA to do with a concern for the "environment".

I'm furious that these idiots from the WWF have the gall to try to interfere in the government of a country. They have been ignored. Rightly so. Long may it continue.

It is a great pity that governments haven't had the sense to ignore other bands of lunatics such as the anti-smoking brigade, the anti-hunting brigade, the anti-drinking brigade and the speed kills brigade.

Air traffic pollution is a small proportion of our over all pollution with pollution from housin and buildings being much greater. Easy to demand that everyone gives up thier holiday that you never take, different when it's a roof over your head. misguided fools.

All you air brains and petrolheads miss the point.
Aviation is the single biggest polluter especially if future growth is taken into account. To exclude it is the height of stupidity and if you were to be honest with yourselves and forget your prejudices and self greed you know it should be included.

The weakness of the Scottish (and English government ) positions is admirtted when you read the last two paragraphs of their statement -
'He said international aviation emissions are not included in the Scottish government's target, because of complications from allocating emissions from passengers who take more than one flight to reach their final destination.

Instead, he said the Scottish Government supports an international solution, and said if Scotland takes action alone it could simply shift emissions elsewhere, rather than delivering reductions.'

This is civil servant gobbledy gook of an excuse and anyone with twopennorth of intelligence knows it.

The WWF should be hung out to dry. It is one of the most corrupt and dangerous organisations on the planet.

The WWF was a key lobbyist at the corrupt United Nations in banning the pesticide DDT back in the 1960's that started this whole fraudulent enviromental movement. DDT was an ultra cheap, ultra effective pesticide that erradicated Malaria particularly in mosquito infested Third World countries.

The WWF supported a book by Rachel Carson, 'Silent Spring' published in 1962 which spread BS about DDT causing human cancer and building up in the eco-chain. The result was a ban and/or threats to reduce funding which led to almost no DDT spraying and between 50 and 100 million unneccessary deaths, particularly poor mums and their children in Third World countries.

This climate fraud is a fear story based on the same fraudulent unproven science as the ban on DDT, both supported by WWF propaganda amongst many such corrupt institutions. Nobody at the WWF or UN or any enviro-organisation has ever been held to account for over 50 million predvenatble human deaths (greater than WWI and WWII put together). Here's the tragic, murderous story of DDT and why the WWF and UN and their junk-science is not to be trusted;
