THIS week's wine recommendations:
• Tesco Finest Ribera del Duero 2006 – £6.99. Rich and fruity with aromas of wild bramble fruits leading to flavours of blackberry and light touches of spiced oak.

• Fairhills Shiraz Tempranillo 2007 – £3.69 until July 29, then £5.16, Te
sco. A great wine supporting a great cause – Fairhills is one of Argentina's largest Fairtrade projects. It's a soft and spicy red wine with plenty of cherry and blackcurrant.

• Duo Mythique Syrah Grenache 2006 – £4.99, Co-op. Bursting with intense berry characters, with a soft and ripe mouth feel.

• Spier Discover Chardonnay 2007 – £4.99 at Somerfield, or £5.19 at Sainsbury's. Intense and zesty, this Chardonnay delivers vibrant tropical fruits and a lively, refreshing finish.

• Steeple Jack Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2007 – £5.19 Tesco. Crisp and citrussy, this is summer in a glass. Perfect wine for any BBQ.

• Gnarly Head Merlot 75cl – £6.65, Sainsbury's. Dark and lush black cherry fruit aromas complement blackberry flavours on the soft and generous palate. Try with pork loin or roasted vegetables and wild rice. Yum!

• Taste the Difference Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc 2007 – £7.99, Sainsbury's. Crisp citrussy and complex with a lingering finish. Perfect with some barbecued shellfish.

• Beringer White Zinfandel Rosé – £4.49 until July 22, then £5.99, Sainsbury's. Bright red fruit flavours, delicate yet savoury with a vibrant and crisp finish. Try this little beauty with some spicy oriental cuisine.

Taste the Difference Beaujolais Villages 2006 – £5.99.
Made especially for Sainsbury's by Georges Duboeuf, this wine is light bodied with cranberry and raspberry notes.
Try slightly chilled – perfect for summer drinking.

BARGAIN OF THE WEEK
First Cape First Selection Chardonnay half price from £7.99 to £3.99. From a premium selection of grapes from the First Cape growers. Rich, vibrant melon and citrus aromas beautifully complement apple flavours on the palate.
