It couldn’t have started much worse for Rangers who looked off the pace for the majority of the first half. Romanian dangerman Nicolae Stanciu curled in the opener after just six minutes after drifting to the edge of the visitors' box unmarked and unchallenged.
Rangers had spent the weekend celebrating the club’s 55th title win and fans fears of a hangover from the exertions seemed real until the team finally got going towards the end of the first half and Filip Helander tapped in the equaliser six minutes from the break after Ianis Hagi’s cut-back.
Their resurgence continued in the second half with a performance much more like those which have seen Steven Gerrard’s side go unbeaten in Europe this season and they take a 1-1 draw back to Glasgow – and owe a debt of gratitude to Allan McGregor for a wonderful late save too.

1. Allan McGregor - 9
Goalkeeper was beaten early on but too long in the tooth to be caught by Slavia's cheeky tactics of trying to catch him out. Two quite stunning saves in quick succession with two minutes to go including an incredible one-handed diving grasp to gather. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
2. Nathan Patterson - 6
Targeted early on and both Provod and Sima tested the youngster who was off his usual game early on but grew in stature as the 90 minutes progressed. More of an attacking threat in the second half. Photo: MILAN KAMMERMAYER
3. Borna Barisic - 6
Left-back's first half booking was perhaps unlucky but limited his exploits. Grew in confidence through the second half like majority of his team-mates. Photo: SNS Group
4. Filip Helander - 8
Extra point for gambling like a striker to tap in the equaliser but Swede was guilty of some miscommunication with McGregor and when encouraged to step out with possession didn't do enough with it with limited options ahead of him in the first half. Changed man in the second half with a virtually flawless performance with more space. Photo: MILAN KAMMERMAYER
