Doncaster meets Llambias over Rangers finances
A one-to-one meeting between the two took place on Tuesday as Doncaster demanded assurances that Rangers would not fall into financial meltdown - even though the board recently admitted that a £500,000 loan would be needed to provide “working capital” in the coming days.
Chairman David Somers and Llambias are understood to be in discussions with a consortium of wealthy supporters including George Letham and Douglas Park to stave off insolvency. In return, the consortium is seeking representation on the board - but Dave King is not thought to be in similar discussions.

Meanwhile, the board are still courting Robert Sarver despite rejecting his £18 million offer for the club, and are encouraging an offer to rival that of the consortium.
Sarver, in a statement on the Stock Exchange, said: “I’m looking forward to building a consensus amongst supporters and prominent Rangers-minded figures. I’ve had research carried out on Rangers and I’m convinced we could take it back to the top of the Scottish game.”
There are indications that Sarver has been in discussion with the Park-led consortium, but the specifics of those talks remain unknown.
