Turkish man detained for visa breach
Acting on intelligence, officers from the UK Border Agency targeted Marini’s takeaway in Almondvale Parkway on Friday.
After the immigration status of staff was checked, a Turkish man was found working illegally at the takeaway, in breach of his visa conditions. He is currently in detention, pending removal from the UK.

Hide AdThe business was served with a civil penalty notice for employing the illegal worker. If the employers are unable to provide evidence that legally required checks were carried out before giving the worker a job – such as asking for a passport or a Home Office document – a fine of up to £10,000 will be imposed.
Adam Scarcliffe, assistant director of the UK Border Agency in Scotland, said: “Offenders should know that there is no hiding place and that where we find people who are in the UK illegally they will be arrested and removed.
“We are targeting employers who take on illegal workers.”
