Pair attacked man with cricket stumps
Farhan Iqbal, 21, underwent emergency surgery to his head after developing a blood clot after the attack in Market Street on 1 January last year.
Advocate depute Shona Haldane told jurors at Edinburgh High Court yesterday that the cricket stumps were "potentially lethal weapons".

Hide AdOsman Akhtar, 22, from Craigour Terrace, and Mohammed Jansher Khan, 21, of Minto Street, were charged with attempting to murder Mr Iqbal, but were found guilty of a reduced charge of assaulting him to his severe injury.
Khan's older brother, Jhangir, 23, also of Minto Street, was also charged with a murder bid, but was acquitted of the offence.
Sentence was deferred until later this month.
