Last time we had Indian summer like this was 1959
Temperatures climbed to almost 25C, making it the latest in the year it had been so warm since 1959. Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Garden and Kinlochewe in the Highlands were the hottest places in the country, at 24.7C.
However, the Met Office said that although England and Wales are anticipating a run of good weather into next month, an unsettled outlook is expected for Scotland for the rest of the week.

Hide AdCloud and rain is forecast for parts of Scotland today, although Edinburgh and sheltered parts in the east can expect to enjoy bright weather with temperatures up to 23C.
The warm and sunny weather will return to most of the country on Friday, but the western Highlands and Western Isles may see rain.
By Saturday, the wet weather will move across the rest of the country, though temperatures are expected to remain high for the time of year. The warm spell is expected to end on Sunday, with fresher winds coming in from the west.
