Beveridge heads lawyers’ body
Bruce Beveridge has been named as the new president of the Law Society of Scotland, replacing Austin Lafferty in the spring.
The body, which acts as a regulator for the legal profession, said that Beveridge – currently vice-president – had been the sole nominee for the top post.
The former Scottish Government solicitor and current chair for the Centre for Rural Development said: “The legal profession is going through an unprecedented period of change with new challenges but also new opportunities emerging.”
Meanwhile, Alistair Morris was named yesterday as the society’s new vice-president. He was also a sole nominee.
Morris is the longest current serving member of the society’s council.
