Hide AdDuff and Phelps have been holding talks with two new interested parties since previous preferred bidder Bill Miller withdrew his offer for the club earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy warned administrators they must accept the Blue Knights’ offer for the club today or they will walk away.
Kennedy has reportedly struck a deal with Craig Whyte to acquire his 85 per cent shareholding and will now push Duff and Phelps to name a bidder.
McCoist spent much of this morning’s training session at Murray Park taking calls and said in his press conference afterwards: “I spoke to the administrators on the phone this morning and they are very encouraged.
“They have told me they are very close again to naming a preferred bidder.
“There are two new potential purchasers who have come into the fray and I believe Brian Kennedy has been speaking to the administrators as well.”
