Hearts battling several clubs for signature of Demetri Mitchell
Mitchell, 21, is in the final year of his United contract and hopes to agree a new deal. Hearts want to bring him back to Tynecastle Park after a successful loan spell last season, but competition for his signature is stiff.
Derby are one of a number of clubs north and south of the Border with an interest in signing Mitchell, who can operate at left-back, left wing-back or left midfield. He has not closed off the prospect of returning to Scotland having publicly stated how much he enjoyed his 11 Hearts appearances between January and May this year.

Mitchell spent the summer on tour with United in America. He featured in friendlies against Club America and San Jose Earthquakes, plus International Champions Cup matches against Liverpool and Real Madrid.
He is keen to play regularly throughout the season ahead to improve his experience at first-team level. Therefore, any loan move would have to offer the chance for him to cement a place.
