Ayr United manager Mark Roberts last night hailed as a major coup snapping up former Hibs and Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Smith until the end of the season. The 29-year-old is poised to make his debut on Saturday as Albion Rovers visit Somerset Park.
Smith was allowed to leave promotion-chasing Division One outfit Partick Thistle, where he had been acting as back-up to Scott Fox.
Roberts beamed: “It’s a great move for us and for Graeme and, hopefully, he will do well. He has so much experience, having played 150 SPL games.”
