Terry Butcher in running for Doncaster manager
Having secured promotion, the former Wales caretaker manager declared his interest in reverting back to the position he held prior to taking charge following the departure of Dean Saunders to Wolves back in January. Former Scotland striker Paul Dickov, who was axed by Oldham this season, is 1-4 favourite to fill the role, but Inverness manager Butcher – who turned down a vacancy with Barnsley earlier this campaign – is also viewed as a serious candidate at 3-1.
A statement from Doncaster said: “Brian will be involved in the search for a new manager and new players for the challenge ahead in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. Brian will go down in history after the dramatic end to the season and the club see Brian as the ideal man to lead the development of Doncaster Rovers as a force both at senior and youth level.”
