FILM: B-MOVIE: LUST & SOUND IN WEST BERLIN 1979-1989
Before developing into the trendy cosmopolitan capital it is today, West Berlin was a volatile melting pot of music, art and sub-culture. Mancunian musician Mark Reeder presents a stunning documentary of what life was like in Berlin before the wall came down – complete with interviews from Nick Cave, Blixa Bargeld and other influential Berliners of the decade.
MUSIC: IDLEWILD
Scottish rockers Idlewild have come a long way from their initial noisy debut album Hope Is Important released back in 1998, but the band still attract a loyal fanbase when playing across Scotland. Following a brief hiatus, the Edinburgh outfit returned with a new sound for their latest album, Everything Ever Written, and are currently touring a joint acoustic and electric set.

THEATRE: THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
Glasgow’s Theatre Royal plays host to a new production of the Oscar Wilde classic The Importance Of Being Earnest until Sunday, featuring the acting chops of Nigel Havers and Rosalind Ayres. Wilde’s word remains as razor-sharp as when the play was initially performed back in 1895, still attracting audiences from all age groups.

EVENT: MARK BEAUMONT: THE MAN WHO CYCLES
Record breaking endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont will be at the Acorn Centre in Aberdeenshire as part of the Book Week Scotland celebrations. As well as his cycling feats, Beaumont is known for his travel writing and documentary making and is sure to be a fascinating guest.
