Scotland weather forecast: 23c possible on Tuesday in Glasgow, Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders as temperatures soar above mid September average
Met Office meteorologist Luke Luke Miall says Glasgow, Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders will likely see this kind of heat.
He said the mercury will reach the high teens and low 20s across most of Scotland on Tuesday - other than in the Western and Northern Isles where some cloud and rain is expected.

He said the average maximum temperature in Scotland for mid September is 16-17c, adding: “Most places will be above average.
“High pressure to the south-east of the UK and, as the winds go clockwise, air is dragged in from the south-east which is always a warm direction for the UK.”
Mr Miall added that sunshine is expected widely across Scotland too which will contribute towards these higher than average temperatures.
