Teen attacked for trying to stop sectarian singing on train

British transport police said the incident happened on a train between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock on Saturday. Police said words had been exchanged before the 16-year-old was punched on the the head and body. The four men then left the train at Barrhead station and moved off in the direction of Carlibar Road. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated for cuts to his head and face. Detective Constable Raymond Grimley said: “This was a violent and unsavoury incident leaving other passengers on the train shocked. “Although we have very clear CCTV footage of those involved, I am urging anyone who was on the train or at the station and has knowledge of the identity of those suspected of the assault to contact BTP as a matter of urgency.” BTP said the men are all in their mid-20s. One was wearing a grey striped football top with green sleeves, a second man is 6ft with blond hair. A third man thought to be involved was 5ft 8in with short brown hair, a heavy build and was wearing a green and white football top, black tracksuit trousers and training shoes. A fourth man is 5ft 11in, with short brown hair, a thin build and was wearing a black jacket and navy trousers
