Scotland's largest piano collection sold for £373k
Staff at the Edinburgh Piano Company supplied instruments for iconic musicians – including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Luciano Pavarotti and Van Morrison – over more than 30 years.
The auction marked a high point for the business, as the company’s owner, James Cameron, retired following the sale.

Bidders – among them Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos – packed Mr Cameron’s showroom in Joppa.
Pianos, including a Steinway grand dating from around 1900, were snapped up by buyers based in countries such as China and America, as well as young pianists around Scotland.
The sale generated a grand total of £373,250.
Mr Cameron, 73, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the sale.
“There were more people in the sale room than I have ever had in the history of the business.
“I’m sad that it is our final day of trading but I’m pleased that we’ve gone out on a high note.”
