Police cycle numbers up
LOTHIAN and Borders Police has built up a fleet of 164 bicycles for officers to carry out patrols, new figures have shown.
The number of bikes owned by the force has increased from 158 last year and 138 for the year before that.
Chief Superintendent Malcolm Graham, Edinburgh’s police commander, has spoken of his desire for more cycle patrols to be carried out in the city as part of an effort both to improve response times to incidents and to offer the public reassurance.
