South The Merrick, Galloway

It may not be a Munro, but this is a classic walk and deserves the utmost respect. Full hill-walking gear is needed.
Highlands Bruach na Frithe, the Black Cuillin, Skye
DISTANCE: 8.5 miles. HEIGHT CLIMBED: 2,982ft. TIME: 6 to 8 hours. MAP: OS Landranger 32.
The Black Cuillin's main ridge is a dizzying switchback that requires rock-climbing skills, but the ascent of Bruach na Frithe from Sligachan, although strenuous, can be completed by any fit and healthy walker.
