Fewer police sick of force
SEVEN police officers retired on ill-health grounds during the last year, new figures have shown.
The officers, who included seven police constables and a detective constable, were all granted retirement due to ill-health from Lothian and Borders Police between April last year and March.
The number represents a fall on the previous when nine officers retired due to illness.
Two officers were also granted pension awards after being injured on duty during the year, a decrease on the eight awarded for 2010-11.
