Care home checks vow
CARE homes receiving one unannounced inspection each year in the Lothians does not mean there has been a drop in quality, the health secretary has said.
Nicola Sturgeon stressed that she felt the area’s care homes were doing a good job.
But she added increased inspections – not allowing homes the chance to prepare false environments – was a necessary step.

Hide AdShe said: “I believe that general care services in Scotland are of a good quality and respond well to the needs of both older people and the people who care for them.
“However, I have also been clear that there are aspects of the care regime in Scotland that are worth further consideration.”
