8,000 go on the run to raise cash for Race for Life
Four sisters who survived breast cancer were among thousands to take part in the Dundee race. Carole Bennett, Jane McCaffrey, Ellen Ferrie and Susan Pyle sounded horns to start the event before taking part themselves.
Ms Bennett, 47, from Dundee, said: “What an amazing day it has been. The atmosphere was electric and my sisters and I have had so much fun. We were also taking part in memory of our mum, who died after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

The Edinburgh Race for Life event was started by breast cancer survivor Pamela Adams, 49, and her nine-year-old daughter Katie. The charity is now urging those who took part to send in their sponsorship money.
