We speak to Great British Bake Off Finalist 2018, Kim-Joy, about her colourful sense of style
It's been two years since Kim-Joy, 29, made the final of the Great British Bake Off. Since then, she's released a debut book, the bestselling Baking with Kim-Joy and, now that GBBO is back on our screens every Tuesday night, Christmas with Kim-Joy (Quadrille, £15), subtitled "a festive collection of edible cuteness". Expect recipes including canelé trolls, marshmallow seals snoozing in igloos, Christmas mice on stollen, snowmen choux, her take on a gingerbread house and edible arctic foxes.
Her quirky cakes are like a panacea for the coronavirus blues, but so is her colourful style. We ask her a few questions about her wardrobe.
What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

Hide AdAs I’m not leaving the house as much right now, I’m loving comfy oversized dresses. I most recently treated myself to a colourful printed oversized dress from Monki.
What are you addicted to buying?
There’s nothing better than putting on a brand new pair of fluffy socks. Whenever people ask me what they should buy me, I always ask for socks.
Best ever bargain?
I bought a cute top from a charity shop probably nearing ten years ago now, and I still have it and wear it often.
Who has great style?
I really enjoyed watching the Netflix series Next in Fashion. I loved the style of contestant Minju Kim and felt an affinity with her. Although we have different styles, I love what she does, and especially her use of colour and texture.
Name your favourite high street shop.
Can I pick three? I’m a big fan of Cath Kidston, Anthropologie, and Monki.
Any fashion disasters?
I love wearing socks with sliders, which I guess could technically be classed as a fashion no-no. But I still love it and people always compliment me on them (mostly because the sliders have cat ears) so I’m happy to continue doing wearing them together.
What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?
The harem trousers I bought a while ago from Anthropologie. They’re extremely comfortable and I think they look pretty cute too. The only problem is that I can’t wear them around my cats as they get too excited by all the tassels.
