Sturgeon joy at research
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has welcomed the announcement by six major pharmaceutical firms that they are investing over £14 million into new drug treatments for major global diseases.
Ms Sturgeon said:“The Scottish Government has invested £10m in Sir Philip Cohen’s research through the Scottish Institute for Cell Signalling; research at the cutting edge of bio-science which opens up the possibilities for novel drugs to be developed.
“Today’s announcement highlights the benefits of that public investment and on a long history of collaboration which has brought benefit to the university, to Dundee, to the pharmaceutical industry and to patients.”
