Bright future for low-carbon Scots start-ups
The Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) has launched Scotland’s first low-carbon business incubator after a Dragons’ Den-style selection process.
Four start-ups made the final cut, including an urban micro-farm, a mobile app that promotes an intelligent approach to buying clothes and a riverbed micro-hydro electricity device called the Water Engine.
The founding entrepreneurs of the new Low Carbon Ideas Lab beat off tough competition to win one of nine desks in the hub, as well as support to turn their ideas into successful businesses.
