David Hunter, a former teacher and electronics engineer, is to unveil his smartwatch-style Shot Scope device at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando on 27 January.
In July, the inventor secured a £415,000 cash injection to start production of the wearable gadget, which allows players to collect performance data without using a smartphone or pressing buttons. Business angel syndicate Equity Gap led the funding deal, which also brought in backing from the Scottish Investment Bank and Old College Capital, the University of Edinburgh’s in-house venture capital fund.

Hunter said: “Shot Scope is the first system that allows golfers of all levels to track their game with no interruptions, monitor statistics, identify your trends and use the information to make better decisions on the course.
“The wristband interacts with unique tags inserted into the grip of every golf club to identify shots, club used and log GPS information.”
Following its unveiling in Florida this month, Shot Scope is expected to hit retailers’ shelves in May.
