Scotland weather: Joint coldest May bank holiday on record as mercury drops to -5.9

Scotland has recorded its joint-coldest ever May bank holiday temperature in the Highlands.

As wet and windy weather swept across the country on Monday, a temperature of -5.9°C was recorded this morning in Kinbrace.

In a tweet, the Met Office said this is “provisionally the joint coldest start to the Early Spring Bank Holiday Monday on record”.
