Fireworks ban put in place in Cumbernauld after significant gas leak

The exclusion zone that has put in place in Cumbernauld has been lifted, after engineers stopped a major gas leak.

Gas company SGN said: Our engineers have made substantial progress this evening with the first stage of the repair. We’ve stopped the major leak and the exclusion zone has been lifted.

“We still have some essential works which we'll be undertaking over the next week during which time the road closures will need to remain in place.
